Still Life and Figurative Monthly Oil Painting Sessions
with LOUIS ESCOBEDO - 2012
Thursdays 9 am - 4 pm, First session begins January 5
Monthly tuition is $250 per month for 4 sessions.
For advanced painters. By observation, students learn how Louis approaches a painting, manipulates the paint and solves problems. Sessions encompass figurative and still life subjects, and students will paint the same thing Louis is painting. The last hour includes a vital critique of paintings. Tuesday Drop-In Painting Clinics
with NANCY TANKERSLEY
Tuesdays 9:00 am - Noon AND 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm
$20 - Half Day; $35 - Full Day
For all levels. This is a great opportunity for you to continue to develop your painting skills at your own pace in a wonderful studio environment. What makes these clinics unique is that during this time, Nancy will be working on her own projects - sometimes using a model; other times painting from the still life and occasionally working from her own photos projected on our large digital monitor. It will be your choice to either join Nancy on what she is working on OR you can work on your own subject. Still life objects, cloths and model costumes will be available for your use. Nancy will be available during breaks for assistance. An optional critique will be offered at the end of the session. Any model fees will be extra. Energetic Landscape and Plein Air Painting
with SARA LINDA POLY - Spring Session
Wednesdays, 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm First session begins May 2
Tuition is $300 for 6 weeks
For all levels. Learn skills for more confidence and success when painting landscapes (including skies, clouds, and dramatic light). You will discover new and exciting painting applications in order to create a sense of drama in your work. Sara will focus on choosing subject matter, strong composition, design, value, atmospheric perspective, and how to achieve a good sense of distance. She will also discuss supplies, materials, and equipment, and how to take better photos for use in the studio. Though oil paint is preferred, students are welcome to use pastels or acrylics (open acrylics are suggested) as long as you have a solid understanding of the medium. No matter what level student you might be, this class will expand your painting knowledge and hone your skills. Classes will be held outdoors or indoors depending on the weather. Sharpen your Drawing Skills
with MARY PRITCHARD
Wednesdays, 9:00 am - 12:00 pm First session begins March 7
Tuition is $150 for 4 weeks
For all levels. This class is designed to revive and refine your drawing skills in a stress-free environment. Through a variety of techniques and exercises, Mary will help you sharpen your observational skills as you increase accuracy and expressiveness. Using pencil, charcoal and pastel on different surfaces, students will explore drawing as a tool for idea generation and composition as well as an expressive art form itself. You will work from still life arrangements but can also bring your own landscape photographs as reference material. Demonstrations and critiques will be part of this lively class.
